CONCORD, NH –Ann McLane Kuster unveiled her clean energy jobs plan today with a goal of growing 5,000 to 7,000 clean energy sector jobs in New Hampshire, without adding to the federal deficit. "Over the last twenty-five years, I’ve spent my life working to help people here in New Hampshire on issues that make a difference for all of us – from making it easier for families to save for college to fighting the rising cost of health care.
Today, the most important way we can help families all across our state is by focusing on creating jobs. Over the past six months in my campaign for Congress, I have traveled to every corner of our district to sit-down with workers and business leaders to talk with them about how the government can help them create new jobs." "Tonight the U.S. House of Representatives passed historic health care reform that will make a real difference for New Hampshire families and businesses. This bill will cut the deficit by $130 billion in the next decade alone, extend coverage to 31 million Americans without health care, stop insurance companies from denying coverage to people who get sick or have a pre-existing condition, and close the so-called "donut hole" in the Medicare prescription drug benefit that otherwise leaves thousands of New Hampshire seniors without coverage . . ."
New Hampshire’s small businesses saw a 39% drop in federally-guaranteed loans last year, from $127.8 million in 2008 to $79.8 million in 2009, according to a new report released by congressional candidate Ann McLane Kuster, who spoke about the need for more small business support at the Bow Rotary Club this morning.
“It is simply unacceptable for Washington to focus its efforts on passing massive bailouts for Wall Street while New Hampshire’s small businesses are struggling,” said Ann McLane Kuster. “Small businesses make up the backbone of our state’s economy and they employ more than half of all workers in the New Hampshire. They deserve to be put first, not last, when it comes to making sure they have the tools they need to grow our economy.”
In a sign of broad grassroots support across New Hampshire, more than fifty New Hampshire legislators and elected officials representing districts from Nashua to the North Country endorsed Second District congressional candidate Ann McLane Kuster today.
Our economy isn’t just measured by the stock market – it is measured by whether New Hampshire workers have good-paying jobs, whether our small businesses are flourishing, and whether our companies are able to invest in the innovation that will build a strong economy for years to come. That means investing in job growth, helping small businesses create jobs, reforming tax relief, and returning to tax fairness and fiscal responsibility.
Ann McLane Kuster demonstrated strong grassroots support from across New Hampshire with her third-quarter fundraising report, which shows contributions from 851 supporters since her campaign began in May, including 632 in New Hampshire. Kuster has raised $343,448 as of September 30, 2009.
New Hampshire Democratic campaign veteran and Concord resident Colin Van Ostern has joined the Kuster for Congress campaign as Campaign Manager. Van Ostern most recently served as the New Hampshire Democratic Party’s Coordinated Campaign Director in 2008, overseeing the party’s most successful campaign in state history.
