Nashua Telegraph: Kuster leading the charge in fundraising in race for 2nd District seat

Published in the Nashua Telegraph on October 18, 2012.

WASHINGTON – With Election Day just three weeks away, Democrat Ann McLane Kuster continues to significantly outraise the Republican incumbent, U.S. Rep. Charles Bass, in the 2nd District, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.

But while Kuster has outraised Bass throughout 2011-12, the latest FEC reports – covering the three-month period that ended Sept. 30 – also show former Democratic Rep. Carol Shea-Porter outraising U.S. Rep. Frank Guinta, a Republican, in a rematch of their 2010 contest.

The surge in fundraising for Shea-Porter allows her to go into the final weeks with nearly as much in her campaign treasury as Guinta.

Kuster and Bass logged their highest quarterly totals of the 2012 election cycle in the period from July 1 through Sept. 30, the latest of which was filed Monday with the FEC.

Kuster raised about $726,000 in these three months, compared to almost $468,000 for Bass, bringing their totals to $2.63 million and $1.78 million, respectively, an $850,000 advantage for Kuster.
