Kuster Issues Statement Ahead of No Labels Event in New Hampshire

Concord, N.H. — Today, Annie Kuster, chair of the moderate New Democrat Coalition, released the following statement ahead of the No Labels event in New Hampshire.

“Here in New Hampshire, we know how democracy works best. Honest conversations between voters and candidates who say what they mean and mean what they say. That’s the New Hampshire way — and that’s why it is so shocking to see No Labels come to our state and fly in the face of that long-standing tradition.

“Funded by $70 million in dark money from billionaire backers, No Labels has proven time and again that it does not have the best interest of our country at heart. Let me be clear: No Labels is trying to use a false message of unity to sow division. Their plan to run a third-party ticket in 2024 will pave the path for the most extreme, far-right candidate to win the White House — namely, former President Trump.

“There is so much on the line in 2024. Instead of propping up a candidate whose only goal is to disrupt, New Hampshire voters should focus on electing a President who will work in a bipartisan way to lower costs for hardworking families, grow our economy from the middle out, and strengthen our democracy. We have that candidate in President Biden.

“With so much on the line, including women’s reproductive rights and freedom, it’s hard to believe that No Labels would be so reckless as to suggest putting up a third-party presidential candidate — and that they would go so far as to mislead voters to do it.”

Last month, Mother Jones released a list of Insurance Policy for America donors, a group affiliated with No Labels. On the list are well-known Republican donors and supporters of former President Trump, including Harlan Crow, the billionaire benefactor of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
