(Hanover, NH) — Today, Congresswoman Annie Kuster met with businesses in Hanover and New London to discuss their COVID-19 operations, and how the government can best support them as we build back from this pandemic. The business stops included Hanover True Value Hardware in Hanover, Red Kite Candy in Hanover, Still North in Hanover, Artisan's in New London, and Spring Ledge Farm in New London.
"Our New Hampshire businesses have demonstrated such fierce resilience and ingenuity throughout this pandemic," said Annie Kuster. "It is so incredible to meet with small business owners and community leaders to hear about how they have changed their operations to meet this new COVID-19 economy and adapt to safety standards. As we continue to build back, it is so important that we offer these small businesses support so they can stay open and continue serving our communities, and that's what I'm fighting for in Congress and why I am urging my colleagues to come back to the negotiating table to get a relief package passed."
"We have really been able to take consistent steps to stay open and keep our customers safe during this pandemic," said Sonya Campbell of Hanover True Value Hardware in Hanover. "Our regulars really came out for us, and the support from our customers and community here in Hanover has been great. We are thankful to have representatives fighting for more support for small businesses like ours."
“We just opened our doors here in Hanover, and it’s certainly been a challenge,” said Caila McCabe of Red Kite Candy. “But, having the college students back and the relief from the Paycheck Protection Program were a big help, and our online sales have been strong. Our community and the support we’ve received has been overwhelming, and we are excited to fully open and serve the community. It’s important to us that elected officials represent the needs of growing businesses like ours, and it was great to speak with Representative Kuster about ways the government can support us.”
"COVID-19 was a definite challenge, but we have been able to find ways to continue serving customers," said Amy Witmer of Artisan's in New London. "This virus completely changed the nature of our business, and we have now put a bigger focus on our online and digital sales. While that's been going well, we really benefited from the Paycheck Protection Program and the support of our local community and we are grateful for Congresswoman Kuster's role in getting that passed. As we look towards the future, we are hopeful and our plan is to stay open and continue to serve our customers, safely."
“We were happy to be a recipient of the Paycheck Protection Program and are so thankful for the support of our community,” said Greg Berger, owner of Spring Ledge Farm. “We’ve been busy working to serve our customers here in New London and beyond, and it’s been important for us to be able to stay open and make plans to remain open as the seasons change. That’s why we’re so happy to have community members supporting us and are thankful for the representatives fighting for us.”
