Kuster Endorsed by the Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire
(Nashua, NH) – Today, the Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire (PFFNH) endorsed Annie Kuster (NH-02) for Congress. Kuster was joined by PFFNH President Bill McQuillen and Local 789 President John McAllister, as well as off-duty firefighters for the endorsement. The PFFNH represents 44 local unions of the International Association of Fire Fighters from across New Hampshire. Kuster has been a strong supporter of resources for firefighters and first responders. Kuster was a co-sponsor of the Firefighter Cancer Registry Act, which was signed into law earlier this year and directs the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to track incidences of cancer in firefighters to better address and identify their unique health challenges. Kuster also backed legislation to ensure healthcare for firefighters who developed health complications resulting from service at Ground Zero following the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks. She has advocated for Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grants for fire departments across New Hampshire to support staffing and resource needs.
“I’m humbled and honored to receive the support of the Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire,” said Kuster. “Firefighters bravely run towards danger every single day to keep our families and communities safe. But we all know that firefighters do so much more than fight fires. They respond to medical emergencies, car accidents, natural disasters, and have been strong partners in the effort to address the opioid addiction crisis that’s impacting our state. We all know that firefighters have our backs, and that’s why I’ll always have theirs.”
“Over Annie’s three terms representing New Hampshire in Congress, Annie has consistently fought for renewing SAFER and AFG grant funding which provide for safer communities here at home. Just in this past term, Congresswoman Kuster’s office helped the Salem Fire Department secure eight new, partial-funded positions for a growing community to have an effective and efficient level of service,” said Bill McQuillen, President of the Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire. “Every day, our members see what is and isn’t working on the ground, and Annie has brought that solution-oriented approach to Washington. Annie Kuster stands with those on the front lines – firefighters, paramedics and dispatchers – and we are proud to fight with her for re-election from New Hampshire’s Second District.”
