AFT and NEA Endorse Annie Kuster for Re-Election
(Concord, NH) - Today, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) is announcing her endorsement by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and the National Education Association (NEA). Kuster has been an advocate for public schools and advancing educational opportunities and resources throughout her time in Congress. To ensure that kids across the country have the foundation they need to be lifelong learners, Annie Kuster has co-sponsored legislation to make Early Childhood Education (ECE) accessible to all families and to increase pay for providers and educators so they receive the compensation they deserve. Kuster has pushed key pieces of legislation to make sure the federal government meets its obligations to low-income students and students with disabilities. She has also championed legislation to help teachers by ensuring the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program meets their needs.
"The National Education Association could not be more proud to recommend Annie Kuster for re-election," said Megan Tuttle, NEA New Hampshire President. "Congresswoman Kuster has been a strong advocate for our public schools, our teachers, and our students throughout her time in Congress. She has worked to ensure funding for early childhood education programs and to expand access to digital technology in the classroom. Now, more than ever, we need strong representatives like Congresswoman Kuster to fight for our schools and prioritize the safety of students, teachers, and staff."
"The American Federation of Teachers is proud to endorse Congresswoman Annie Kuster for re-election," said Doug Ley, President of AFT New Hampshire. "As teachers across the Granite State face the challenges of returning to work during a global pandemic, we need representatives who understand the importance of public education and who will fight to provide for our students, communities, and families. Congresswoman Kuster is an advocate for teachers and is always working to ensure they have the resources they need to provide every student with a quality education."
"I am honored to receive the endorsement of both the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and the National Education Association (NEA)," said Annie Kuster. "The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the importance of our public education system, and the crucial work that our teachers and staff do every day. As schools reopen and students head back to the classroom, it is vital that we keep the best interests of our educators and our students in mind. That's why I am fighting for legislation in Congress to bolster funding for Granite State teachers and students, to advance the technology available for our schools, to address the cost of higher education in our country, to expand career and technology education (CTE) programs, and to ensure all students in New Hampshire receive a high-quality education. I am proud to stand with the AFT and the NEA in their mission to provide for our students and teachers, and to build a stronger education system in New Hampshire and across the country."
