Kuster Announces Slate of Endorsements for Pro-Choice, Democratic Women in New Hampshire
**Kuster's 'A Seat at the Table' initiative seeks to elect more pro-choice, Democratic women into office in New Hampshire**
Concord, NH — Today, Annie Kuster announced her endorsements for the 2022 ‘A Seat at the Table’ program, an initiative she started in 2020 to elect more pro-choice, Democratic women into office in New Hampshire. In the wake of the Supreme Court overturning the near 50-year precedent of Roe v. Wade, abortion access, reproductive freedom, and bodily autonomy face unprecedented challenges in New Hampshire and across the country. Annie Kuster recognizes the urgent need to elect pro-choice, Democratic women leaders to fight for our rights in the Granite State.
“The Supreme Court’s ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade and eliminate women’s constitutional right to abortion access and reproductive privacy was an immense step backward for our country and individual freedom,” said Annie Kuster. “Here in New Hampshire, we will not go back. It has never been more important to elect pro-choice, Democratic women into office to fight for our shared values and combat ongoing extremist efforts to insert government control into people’s personal, private lives. That’s why I started ‘A Seat at the Table.’ The slate of candidates I endorsed today are proven advocates for Granite State women and families and will be relentless fighters for our communities. I look forward to supporting these candidates in the months to come and working with them to build a brighter future for all.”
"I am so thankful for all Congresswoman Annie Kuster does for the people of the Granite State and I am honored to have her support in this campaign," said Executive Councilor Cinde Warmington (EC-02). "While I didn’t expect to be the lone Democrat on the Executive Council, I have, with patience and determination, made a real difference for the people of New Hampshire. But there are many more tough battles ahead. From health care and reproductive freedom to education and property taxes, our progressive values are under attack. Now, more than ever, we need tested, proven leaders who are up to the challenge. I know I am, and that’s why I’m running for reelection.”
“It’s the first time in a generation that women’s rights and public education in NH are being threatened,” said Katherine Harake (EC-03).
"I'm humbled to be supported by A Seat At The Table,” said Shoshanna Kelly (EC-05). “I first ran for public office because I know too well how underrepresented important voices, like those of women, are in the halls of power in our state and in our communities. We've long suffered under the consequences of those voices being absent. I am running for the Executive Council because our district and our state do not have enough voices like mine or those I will represent, that are truly serving everyone's best interests. I will change that."
“I am honored to once again share a seat at the table with Rep. Annie Kuster,” said Sue Prentiss (SD-05). “Together we work to protect the reproductive rights of Granite State women and their families ensuring safe and legal access to abortion care. Women, their families, and medical care providers should be making reproductive medical decisions, not the government. Now more than ever, I look forward to continuing the fight, together with Annie.”
“Roe v. Wade was a milestone in the march for women’s equality,” said Ruth Larson (SD-06). “The Supreme Court can try to stop the march, but in the long run we will win if we stand united.”
“I am thrilled to receive Congresswoman Kuster's endorsement,” said Charlene Lovett (SD-08). “Over the years, I have watched her work tirelessly for the benefit of Granite Staters. Her belief in my ability to do the same at the state level, especially in the areas of women's reproductive rights, is truly an honor.”
“I am truly honored to receive the endorsement of Representative Annie Kuster,” said Shannon Chandley (SD-11). “She is a champion of Granite State values: supporting strong public schools, reproductive rights, and an economy that works for all. Her trust in me and my campaign means a great deal. I will work hard to ensure that our shared Granite State values are represented in Concord.”
“I am deeply honored and humbled to have received the endorsement of Congresswoman Annie Kuster,” said Melanie Levesque (SD-12). “As the U.S. representative for New Hampshire's 2nd congressional district, Congresswoman Kuster has been one of the leading voices for women and working families in the Granite State. At the federal level, Annie has protected and championed women's accessibility to reproductive care, worked to lower costs for working families and ensured NH received vital infrastructure and COVID-19 funds. Working together, we will continue to fight for policies that empower all people across the state. I am proud to stand alongside this group of women.”
“Congresswoman Kuster is a fierce advocate for Granite Staters and I’m honored to receive her endorsement,” said Cindy Rosenwald (SD-13). “With Friday’s US Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the stakes in this fall’s election couldn’t be higher. I’m proud to stand with Congresswoman Kuster and so many strong women leaders in our fight to protect and expand access to a full range of reproductive health care, including safe, legal, and accessible abortion.”
“I'm so honored to work shoulder to shoulder with Congresswoman Kuster to stand up for Granite State working families and defend reproductive freedom,” said Becky Whitley (SD-15). “She has been a trusted mentor and I'm so grateful for her support.”
"A woman's freedom to choose and seek the medical care best for her is fundamental to her rights as a human being — and an American,” said Christine Tappan (SD-17).
“With last week’s US Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, it has never been more clear that we need to elect more women that will fight for safe, legal, and accessible abortion here in New Hampshire," said Senator Donna Soucy (SD-18). "That’s why I’m so grateful for Congresswoman Kuster’s endorsement and for her commitment to electing women to the legislature that will reflect the will of the Granite State and support a woman’s right to make her own health care choices. Together, Senate Democrats will not stop fighting to defend women’s freedom, for reproductive rights, and for women to be equal members of our society.”
"We can’t wait, we have to act,” said Rebecca Perkins Kwoka (SD-21). “We have to work hard this fall to vet our candidates, and we need to knock doors, make calls, and donate to ensure that our elections have the outcome that reflects our state."
"There is no caveat in Article 1 that says all (men) are born equally free and independent… except when pregnant,” said Deb Altschiller (SD-24). “Women and men should both be free from government interference in their reproductive healthcare decisions. New Hampshire men have enjoyed a default of the government being hands-off on their choices for generations. The loss of our hard-fought and won freedom and independence is exactly what is happening, throwing women into reproductive servitude."
