(Nashua, NH) — Today, on National First Responders Day, Congresswoman Annie Kuster met with the Nashua Fire Department to discuss their work during the COVID-19 pandemic and the resources they need to continue serving the community. Kuster has been a strong advocate for first responders and firefighters in Congress. She helped to deliver millions in funding for Granite State Fire Departments through the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program and the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grant (SAFER) to support front line firefighters and ensure they have the resources they need. Kuster was endorsed for re-election by the Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire (PFFNH) this year.

"Today and every day, we thank our Granite State firefighters and first responders for their tireless dedication to our communities," said Annie Kuster. "We know that this pandemic has put additional strains on our first responders, and it is so important that we support them in their continued efforts to protect our communities. That's why I am a proud advocate for our first responders in Congress and will always work to ensure those on the front lines have the support and the resources they need to do their jobs and keep their families safe. Thank you to Chief Brian Rhodes for having me today and for the dedication of the entire Nashua Fire Department to serving their community."

"The men and women of the firefighter community have been called upon during this pandemic, and they have stepped up," said Nashua Fire Chief Brian Rhodes. "As we continue to combat this pandemic and our first responders take on additional risk, the leadership from Congresswoman Kuster is more important than ever. We are grateful for her continued work advocating for New Hampshire's firefighters and first responders in Congress, and appreciate all she is doing to ensure we have the resources and support we need to keep Granite Staters safe."

“Congresswoman Annie Kuster continues to be an outspoken advocate for first responders in Congress,” said PFFNH president Bryan Ryll. “Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, she’s supported New Hampshire’s firefighters and first responders, working to provide relief for our stations and PPE to keep our responders and their families safe. We are very thankful to have such a strong leader in Congresswoman Kuster looking out for us while we look out for our communities.”
