Kuster Denounces Gerrymandered NH Congressional Districts
Concord, NH — Today, Annie Kuster released the following statement after the New Hampshire State Senate sent undemocratic, gerrymandered congressional redistricting maps to Governor Sununu’s desk. The congressional maps passed by the New Hampshire State Legislature are a partisan attempt to allow politicians in Concord, not voters, to dictate the outcomes of elections.
“New Hampshire has a proud history of fair and competitive elections,” said Kuster. “Granite State voters deserve to choose their representatives, not the other way around. These maps fly in the face of that honored tradition. Now that Governor Sununu has committed to vetoing this radical proposal, I urge state officials to prioritize a fair and transparent process as they rework the congressional district maps.”
Kuster continued, “It is the honor of my life to represent New Hampshire in Congress and move our communities forward by helping to create good paying jobs, lowering the cost of prescription drugs and health care, increasing access to affordable housing and broadband, supporting our veterans, tackling the addiction and mental health crisis, and protecting our environment. I am committed to continuing to fight for New Hampshire and earning the support and trust of voters in the Second District.”
